Hotlink Postpaid eSIM

  • An eSIM, or embedded SIM, is a digital SIM card embedded into a device, eliminating the need for a physical SIM card. It allows users to activate a cellular plan and switch between carriers without requiring a physical SIM swap.

  • For new Hotlink Postpaid registrations, eSIM is available at all Maxis Centres, Maxis Exclusive Partners and Hotlink Online Store. For existing Hotlink Postpaid users, you may convert to eSIM or transfer it via Hotlink app.

  • Maxis Centre and Maxis Exclusive Partners
    The eSIM needs to be activated via an eSIM enabled device supported by Maxis. An eSIM activation kit will be provided upon request. Within the activation kit, you will find an activation card which contains a QR code needed for the set-up.

    Hotlink Online Store
    Select eSIM as your sim type during plan sign-up at Hotlink Online Store. You will then receive an email with the eSIM activation steps. Follow the steps to activate your eSIM on your device.

  • Yes, but your device must be eSIM compatible, and your line must be active (not suspended / barred / terminated). Follow these easy steps to convert your physical SIM to eSIM via the Hotlink app:

    1. Open Hotlink app, go to ‘myHotlink’, and click ‘eSIM Manager
    2. Read the guide, check your email address, and click ‘Convert to eSIM
    3. Scan your IC/passport and perform facial recognition to verify your identity
    4. Upon successful verification, tap 'Download & Install eSIM'
    5. Wait for the eSIM to install successfully, then tap 'Done'
  • Yes, all you need to do is perform eSIM-to-eSIM transfer on the new device via Hotlink app:

    1. Download and open the Hotlink app on your new device, then go to ‘myHotlink’, and click ‘eSIM Manager
    2. Read the guide, check your email address, and click ‘Transfer eSIM
    3. Scan your IC/passport and perform facial recognition to verify your identity
    4. You’ll be prompted with acceptance of transfer fee (if any), click 'Agree and Continue'
    5. Once your eSIM is ready, tap 'Download & Install eSIM'
    6. Wait for the eSIM to install successfully, then tap 'Done'
    7. Your eSIM in the old phone will be deactivated once your eSIM in the new phone is activated
    • Your current device must have a cellular connection and must be able to receive SMS notifications.​
    • Your new eSIM-enabled device must be connected to a stable Wi-Fi connection.
    • Make sure you are using the latest Hotlink App on your new device.
    • Your Hotlink Postpaid line must be active with no outstanding payments.
  • A one-time RM10 fee is applicable for all eSIM services such as convertionof physical SIM to eSIM and transfer of an eSIM to another device.

  • All Hotlink Postpaid plans are eligible for eSIM and no, you will not be contracted for activating or transferring eSIM.

  • No, you cannot transfer your eSIM if your line is suspended or barred.

  • Please visit your nearest Maxis Centre and request for a SIM replacement, and specify that you require a physical SIM. Do note that the usual SIM replacement charge may apply.
